About Bethany
Bethany Fields is an artist, educator, and writer living beneath the wide skies of Texas. Known for her expressive, light-filled pastel landscapes, she brings a poetic yet grounded sensibility to both her paintings and teaching. With a passion for clarity and wonder, Bethany helps artists connect the dots between technique and intuition, guiding them toward both skill and soul in their creative practice.
She is the creator of The Beauty of Pastel, a beloved platform and community for pastel artists worldwide. Alongside her painting practice, Bethany offers courses, books, seasonal inspiration, and artist resources from her home studio in Texas. Behind the scenes, she’s been quietly building a place to gather all her offerings under one thoughtful, artful roof, bringing together her work as an artist, teacher, and writer in a way that feels both rooted and expansive.
Through her courses, meditations, and reflective guides, she encourages artists not only to learn the elements of art but to fall in love with the process of creativity. Bethany believes that each day holds the quiet magic of creation, if we slow down, look closely, and remain present with gratitude. She often draws inspiration from the everyday: shifting skies, native grasses, the shadows cast on a garden wall. Her work invites viewers to pause and notice, to see beauty in simplicity and story in light.

I’ve always been drawn to the process of creating. As a child, I stitched tiny treasures, painted rocks, and filled page after page with crayon and pencil sketches, often entering Easter art contests for fun (see right!). My early years were full of color, imagination, and hands that were always busy. Curiosity and a love of learning shaped everything I did, guided by a strong do-it-myself attitude.
That spark has carried me through many creative pursuits: painting, photography, gardening, home decor, graphic design, fabric arts, jewelry design. Wonder and whimsy steady my days, and when I’m fully focused, worries seem to melt away.
