Parties and painting

February 10, 2009

DSC_00142911 We had Colin's 8 year party this weekend….so much fun at a local Gymnastics/ Trampoline/ Cheerleading facility. If you're in the area, check out Cheer Texas for good times.  What could be better than a room full of trampolines?  Not much to an 8 year old, let me tell you.  The party was Super Mario Bros. themed, as the next best thing to trampolines, is video games.  Colin got his "DS" this Christmas and absolutely adores it.  We have strict playing guidelines (only a certain amount of time per week) as he would probably never sleep or play or eat if we didn't.

DSC_00082919 Along with that, here is my newest work.  Pastels are addicting and amazing.  I love it.

I know the picture isn't the best quality, but here ya go.

I've actually worked on this a bit after taking the photo – the shoreline is a tad different in the background.  I got some great advice over at the Pastel Forum at Wet Canvas not to let the river lead the eye off the page.  I brought up the shore  to block off that little arrow and love it so much more.  Little details make the difference….

Ciao!
