Projects

February 27, 2007

Right now, we’re working on and devising plans for several projects around the house.  Since I’ve been in decorating mode for awhile now, I’ve been reading a lot of decorating mags – specifically Domino.  I just love it for so many reasons – just a wealth of ideas and inspiration and color!  That’s something we’re really needing around our house – COLOR!  We have a lot of antique furniture from grandparents and great-grandparents and so our house has a lot of stained wood.  But we also have some non-heirloom furniture that we are planning on painting in the near future. (we=Russell and then I can chip in after the baby comes).  I’m really enjoying the design process and figuring out what fun and funky colors we want that reflects our personalities a bit better than just stain and varnish on wood.

I’m also still working on the baby room.  My mother made some cafe curtains for both boys when Benjamin was born and as hard as I tried, I couldn’t make the ones for Benjamin’s old room work with the girl-y stuff I’m incorporating.  So…..I took the buttons and trim off (they were so cute and it was a bit painful!) and am now sewing on eyelet and ribbon.  It will be much more subtle and I’m excited about working on something with my hands.
