A Busy (and Beautiful) June in the Studio

It’s a busy season over here—full of painting, teaching, and connecting with fellow artists—and I wanted to share a little of what’s coming up this month!
Art School Live — June 12
This Thursday, I’ll be teaching a short, fun class on underpainting for pastel on Art School Live (on YouTube). We’ll explore how to create texture and atmosphere in those first layers and how to use underpainting to build a strong foundation for your piece. It’s a great way to loosen up and try something new! You can tune in live or catch the replay.
Pastel Society of the West Coast Demo — June 21
I’m honored to be presenting a live painting demo for the Pastel Society of the West Coast later this month. I’ll be sharing my process, talking about color, value, and design—and of course, answering questions. If you’re a PSWC member, I’d love to see you there!
The Art of the Tree — June 28
For my next Zoom workshop, we’ll be diving into one of my favorite subjects: trees. This class is all about the structure, shape, value, and expressive possibilities of trees in the landscape. If you’d like to join me, tickets are available on Eventbrite, and of course, my Patreon Studio Circle members already have access.
Art on the Llano Estacado
Finally, one of my favorite regional exhibits is just around the corner. I’ll have work featured in Art on the Llano Estacado in Lubbock, opening this month. If you’re local, I highly recommend visiting—this show celebrates so many talented artists of the region.
It’s a full and blooming season of art. I’m so grateful for each opportunity! I hope our paths cross – through a painting, a class, or a simple note. Until then—happy painting!
