For those of you wondering. I truly am a nerd. Case in point:
- I used to watch (very faithfully and in college) Star Trek: Next Generation
- I played the Oboe through Junior High, High School and for one year in College
- I love Star Wars
- I was also in the Marching Band and *L*O*V*E*D it!! ( I was on the flag-corp)
- I also loved NKOTB (although, at the time, this made one cool and not nerdy. Now? Definitely nerdy)
- I used to stand up and "scold" the classroom in school if they were misbehaving for a substitute teacher
- I had BIG, thick glasses
- I also had BIG perms and BIG bangs
- I still love Star Trek: Next Generation
- I read Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring books every year
So…you found me out! I am a closet nerd. Not even a closet nerd really. An "out there" nerd. I am out of the closet. And it feels goooooood.
Now, off to begin Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone so I can finish all five books by July 16 (yes, I'm also a fast reader!) and the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. (Although I draw the line at attending the midnight release…maybe I'll just pre-order off of Amazon.com)
I'm Bethany
I believe in the act of creativity in small everyday moments to make life more beautiful and meaningful..
I have to admit, B., I laughed out loud (yes, really 😀 ) at the picture of you lecturing your class for misbehaving.
My confessions of nerdiness:
– In college, I cleaned other people’s dorm rooms. They did not ask me too. I have NO idea why I did that. I don’t even clean my own rooms properly now.
– In high school, I was in the library club. No, not a book club — our primary task was re-shelving books.
– I sang in the Mariettas. ‘Nuff said.
– I still wear thick glasses. Can’t get used to contact lenses.
– I have been to TWO midnight launch release parties for Harry Potter — books 4 and 5. Drove 4 hours one way for both events. Stood in the rain for an hour. Drew the line at wearing a costume. But did take photos both times.
– I still own Paperkins and food-patterned paper. Hey, you never know. 😉
Carmen.
An addendum:
– I used “too” instead of “to” in my first confession. I saw it as soon as I posted and felt ashamed. Yes, I am a TRUE nerd. LOL!!
Carmen.
BWWWAAA!!! omg, you are too funny, B! I laughed out loud too when i read about the “scolding”! I played the clarinet in middle school and marched too… aaaaaaaah… loved it. 😉 But then i realized it was UN-cool to do it in High School! LOL! Joey…..)
I also played the xylaphone (spelling) so i didn’t have to march that year. 😉 Never got into Star Trek, but i luuuuuuve STAR WARS!! Have you seen the new one? we’re going tonight. I like the old school movies better though (of course).
Can’t wait for the new HP movie! Although, i’m such a poser b/c i haven’t even read the last book. 😉 Have a good day, B! (oh, and i dug NKOTB… I
Yep, this is why we are friends 🙂
you kill me! Someday I’ll show you the pictures of me with a)bad perms, and b)Farrah Fawcett wannabe hair—very, very sad. I wasn’t in the band because I have no musical talent, but I was editor of my Junior High Yearbook and competed in spelling bees and was on the speech team–geeky enough for you?
Don’t feel bad, Bethany; you could hardly have avoided it with ME as a big sister! Ha, ha!
I WAS A FLAG GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have got to get together with broomsticks for flags or something!!!! (Just don’t make me wear that skirt!) LOL!
